About thirty lustrous cherry-red Sphalerite crystals averaging 3 to 4 mm are scattered over a flat plate of mid to light tan, curved blades of Siderite with some crystals showing natural etching. From the Příbram mining district in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, an area where Sphalerite is not commonly found in this colour, often termed “Ruby Blende”. The crystals range from deep carmine and orangey-scarlet through to black, depending upon the iron content of the Sphalerite.
