A choice miniature of vivid, apricot-orange Heulandite crystals to 1.2 cm on a matt grey-black basalt matrix.  This specimen is from one of the original localities at Old Kilpatrick, close to the northern bank of the River Clyde in West Dunbartonshire. The area is now built over, so any specimens from here date back many decades. The crystals form sharp, chisel-tipped crystals with a bright, almost metallic lustre on both prism and cleaved faces and, of course, stand out due to their distinctive orange colour. The specimen is accompanied with a beautifully handwritten label of what must be of considerable great age, probably early to mid-1800s.  A true Scottish classic.
