A near-perfectly developed ex-matrix Phenakite crystal from Rio Piracicaba in Minas Gerais, Brazil.  This locality has only three recorded mineral species, quartz and muscovite being the other two.  It is now famous for its very fine Phenakite crystals, a beryllium orthosilicate found in granitic pegmatite orebodies.  This crystal, although colourless, takes on a delicate pink tinge and although fairly transparent, is somewhat clouded by internal flaws and veils within the crystal structure.  Excluding the point of attachment, all faces are well developed and display a subdued greasy lustre.  A great Phenakite and good example of this sought after pegmatite species.
