Grossular Garnet var. Hessonite

ID: CC19246
A great miniature group of intergrown Grossular Garnet crystals of the variety Hessonite, from Jeffrey mine at Asbestos in Québec.  The translucent crystals have lozenge-shaped, high lustre faces and are an apricot-orange reminiscent of barley sugar.  The crystals measure up to 1.2 cm across and sit on a thin granular white and dark grey matrix.  A most attractive example of Hessonite garnet.
