Stacked parallel blades of translucent milky white Calcite form a petal-like array on top of a thin matrix encrusted with brassy-golden Marcasite crystals and a small area of massive Marcasite. This specimen shows yet another fine habit of Calcite from Parc mine at Llanrwst, in the Gwydyr Forest area, south of the town of Conwy and in the Conwy County Borough of north Wales. Under LWUV the Calcite fluoresces a mottled mid to bright apricot orange with a zone in one crystal glowing fiery bright peach. Under SWUV the colour is similar but highly subdued, save for this single brighter zone which remains reasonably bright in short-wave UV. This aesthetic and interesting small cabinet specimen is accompanied with the previous collector’s label.
