Fluorite with Calcite and Galena

ID: CC19300
A noticeably different coloured group of part Fluorite crystals from Blackdene mine close to the village of Ireshopeburn in Weardale, County Durham, England.  Known for its rich purple Fluorite, these crystals are a clear and colourless close to their faces, but strongly tinged a greenish-grey to grey-black internal nebulous areas forming geometric patches parallel to the faces.  The Fluorite crystals have a remarkably brilliant lustre and form a ‘floater’ as the cleaved face is completely overgrown with equant Calcite prisms of typically 4 to 5 mm across.
