Admittedly a rather ugly specimen, but a great example of the calcium tungstate Scheelite, as pyramidal tan crystals to 1 cm on edge lining a shallow vug in a milky quartz-Wolframite matrix. Scheelite is one of the iconic minerals from the world-famous Carrock mine in Mungrisdale, Caldbeck Fells, Cumbria, England, now strictly off-limits to mineral collectors. The Scheelite fluoresces pale, ethereal bluish white under SWUV, and is non-fluorescent under long wave. This large miniature comes with a previous collector’s card label.
