This beautiful prismatic Calcite with mamillary druses of micro-crystalline Pyrite is a first-class example from the classic Joplin Mining District in the Tri-State District of Missouri, USA.  The two primary Calcite crystals measure 5.5 and 6.2 cm long, the latter being double-terminated.  Both are semi-transparent with clouded buff to pale lemon interiors, grading to near colourless terminations.  These Calcites sit on micro-crystals of Calcite which coat a grey oxidised plate of massive brassy-golden Chalcopyrite, whose underside is encrusted with semi-hemispherical druses of Pyrite to over 1 cm diameter.  A superb Calcite specimen from Joplin, with excellent, undamaged terminations.  Complete with a nice Ralph A. Sutcliffe cream and apricot printed label, dating back to when he lived in Nelson, Lancashire.
