Apart from its yellow fluorite, Hilton mine in Scordale, northwest of the town of Appleby in Cumbria, England is famous for its magnificent crystallised Baryte.  This splendid specimen is built from individual large rectangular blades of up to 3.5 cm across and around 4 to 4.5 cm high of a translucent to semi-transparent cloudy cream, tinged very pale yellow.  The specimen naturally stands with all the crystals sloping at 45 degrees in roughly parallel alignment.  A great and showy Hilton Baryte.
