An excellent bed of blackberry-purple Fluorite crystals from one of Weardale’s most famous mines, Blackdene by the village of Ireshopeburn in County Durham, England.  Blackdene mine is world famous for its purple Fluorite.  Well formed cubic crystals, frequently elongated, completely cover the matrix, mainly occurring as single crystals, but sometimes as interpenetrant twins.  The Fluorite has a bright glassy lustre and fluoresces bright blue-white under LWUV.
