Crystals of the rare silver-antimony sulphide Miargyrite are developed in this very fine specimen up to 7 mm long, a number of which sit on small milky Quartz crystals lining a vug within a vein of Quartz.  The Quartz vein bisects a mid-grey matrix of interlayered Quartz and silvery-black schist. This specimen is from the Neue Hoffnung Gottes mine at Bräunsdorf in the Freiberg District of Saxony, the type locality for Miargyrite.  The Miargyrite forms metallic steely-black monoclinic crystals with occasional striated faces.  A superb specimen of this rare mineral from its type locality.
