For any collector specialising in Quartz this is a terrific miniature example of both Prasem, or Prase and what is termed artichoke growth. Two perfectly formed Quartz crystals branch from one another at their bases at just below ninety degrees (not a Japan law twin!) and taper outwards towards their terminations, gradually gaining in diameter. Smaller peripheral crystals surround the prism faces, hence the name artichoke. The prisms are coloured a grey leek green so earning the loosely held varietal name Prasem or Prase. The latter is the more modern term but applicable to other species of this colour whereas Prasem is an old German term for this colour but applying to Quartz only.
