A magnificent Chalcocite from the Dzhezkazgan Mining District in the Karaganda Region of Kazakhstan, a sandstone-hosted copper deposit. The Chalcocite forms excellent hexagonal platy crystals of metallic black with a steel blue patina and in parts is almost sapphire-blue. The largest crystal measures 2 cm across and sits vertically behind many equally well-formed smaller crystals. This is a superb Chalcocite which will make a fine addition to either a high-grade systematic collection or as a wonderful location piece.
