If you have been looking for a good specimen of the rare, hydrated calcium oxalate Whewellite, then this, I think, is the specimen for you. A single, exceptional sharp crystal forming a triangular, three dimensional arrowhead of Whewellite sparkles with included metallic particles of what I presumed is Pyrite. However, based on specimens shown from this locality in mindat, it appears these inclusions are the rare iron-nickel sulphide Smythite. This exceptionally rare and fine example of these two species is from the Ronneburg Uranium deposit at Gera in Thuringia, Germany. Please note, the Smythite is highly probable but unconfirmed. Be it this or a more common sulphide, the specimen is beautiful and a real one-off. It comes with a small square acrylic base on which it was once mounted. It is now detached from this base but can be easily reattached if desired.
