A magnificent large and gemmy golden-lemon tinged Calcite crystal from the Sokolovskoe Iron mine, at Rudny in the Kostanay Region of Kazakhstan; a mine now famous for such wonderful Calcites.  This crystal is actually composed of a number of intergrown twins, evident for the many re-entrant angled faces present over its surface.  The crystal faces are mirror-smooth; some very lustrous and some very slightly frosted with matt patches.  Adhering beneath the crystal is a little Pyrite and massive Calcite matrix.  Simply superb.
