Coloradoite

ID: CC19479
An outstandingly rich specimen of the mercury telluride (HgTe) Coloradoite coating the top of greyish, cryptocrystalline Quartz from the gold mining district of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Shire in Western Australia.  The Coloradoite forms thick and lustrous metallic silver plates.  The surrounding massive Quartz matrix is well invested in blebs of buttery-yellow Native Gold.  A very fine specimen of this rare mercury telluride.
