Siderite with Calcite
ID:
CC19486
Of all the mineral specimens I have ever seen, this small miniature of light sandy-tan Siderite sprinkled over with sub-mm milky Calcite crystals is without doubt a one off! Mounted on a small colourless acrylic base, the Siderite forms an egg-like structure in which a large spherical mound of Siderite forms its yolk! The Siderite is developed as spheres of around 4 to 7 mm diameter around its open top which together form the upper part of the ‘egg-shell’. From Dal’negorsk in Primorsky Krai, Russia, this a most pleasing and unusual specimen to say the least!
