ID: CC19490
A choice small miniature of acidic lemon-yellow Pyromorphite crystals from the classic and famous Wheal Alfred close to Hayle in Cornwall, England. The colour is unusual for Wheal Alfred, but the specimen comes with an old well provenanced French label and Richard Barstow is known to have collected similar specimens.  The Pyromorphite crystals are translucent with a brilliant glassy lustre and measure up to 87 mm long and, rarely, 6 mm across.  The crystals are hexagonal with a flat pinacoid termination, sometimes developing an attractive mild orange tinge.
