The Shilu mine sits by the coast in south eastern China, in Yangchun County, Guangdong Province.  A granite-type intrusion, injected into carbonate country rock, produced a copper-rich skarn-type deposit which later became oxidised.  This specimen of very well crystallised Azurite is a beautiful and excellent example from the Shilu orebody.  The specimen is composed entirely of Azurite, forming a intergrown crystallised mass, the surface of which is a carpet of well developed, completely undamaged, intermeshed crystals to 1 cm wide and of a light inky azure-blue with a bright, glossy lustre.
