Baryte

ID: CC19524
A rare and beautiful miniature sky-blue Baryte from Dalmellington mine in west Cumbria.  Nowadays we tend to associate just the gemmy yellow to toffee Baryte with this mine, but this originated from Dalmellington’s shaft-pillar zone, whereas further into the mine the colour graded to blue.  This stunning translucent sky to powder-blue specimen is a floater, showing only a tiny point of attachment, with beautiful lozenge-shaped crystals on both sides and with an overall brilliant glossy lustre.  A gorgeous specimen.
