Cuprite with Native Silver

ID: CC19529
An amazing Russian Cuprite miniature with a massive Wow factor!  Superb, sharp octahedral Cuprite crystals up to 2.2 cm on edge and 2.5 cm wide, stack on top of each other.  Around where the crystals join, bright silver-white granular crystals of Native Silver are richly scattered.  The Cuprite, due to the large size of the crystals, is an opaque metallic mahogany-gunmetal but over its base, where the octahedral crystals are much smaller, the typical translucent cherry to claret-red shines through.  A wonderful and very reasonably priced specimen from the Rubtsovsk mine, which worked a volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) Cu-Zn-Pb deposit in the Rubtsovsky District of Russia.
