A magnificent and complex Phosgenite (lead chlorocarbonate) from the famous Monteponi mine at Iglesias, Carbonia-Iglesias Province, Sardinia, Italy, a European and World classic locality.  The specimen, composed entirely of greyish-tan Phosgenite, forms a skyscraper-like blocky structure and is recorded on the accompanying label as a pseudomorph, but after just what is unclear.  All prism faces and the flat termination are coated in micro-crystallised Phosgenite which produces a constantly glittering sparkle.  On the base (adjacent to two glued-on labels) are two magnificent phosgenite crystals; 1.5 x 10 x 0.4 cm and 1.9 x 1.2 x 0.9 cm, which on most other specimens would be the prime focus!
