A spectacular miniature Chalcopyrite with Calcite from the Dzhezkazgan mining district in the Karaganda Region of Kazakhstan.  The Chalcopyrite occurs as choice sharp crystals to 1 cm that form an approximately 4.5 x 2.0 x 1.5 cm cluster sat on a thin plate of Quartz, itself covered in sub-mm glassy Quartz crystals and occasional nail-head Calcite crystals, some double terminated and up to 0.9 cm long.  What makes this specimen outstanding is the colour of the Chalcopyrite; an iridescent brassy-gold with flashes of orange-red with a brilliant, highly reflective metallic lustre.  The specimen is glued vertically to a two-tiered clear acrylic base.
