This splendid cabinet specimen, which displays two generations of Calcite crystals, is from the Laki district of the Rhodope Mountains in Bulgaria.  An initial generation of translucent glassy-grey scalenohedral crystals to 4.5 cm long form a divergent group with a flat base coated with a pale powder-green chloritic mineral.  Save for two or three crystals, all of these have been subsequently coated in fine, sub-mm micro-crystals of colourless and clear Calcite, whose overall colour appears cream with the slightest hint of pink.  A beautiful Bulgarian Calcite and great for display.
