The Klein Spitzkopje in the Erongo Region of Namibia is a spectacular isolated granite stock (an inselberg), part of which famously features in the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. The granite is rich in mineralised miarolitic cavities and this terrific small miniature Topaz is one of the locality’s trademark minerals. An ex-matrix colourless and transparent prism with a chisel edge termination and vertically striated prism faces has a flat cleaved base on which it stands vertically. Two deep purple-coloured inclusions reside within the prism, but the composition of these is unknown. Please note one of the two termination faces has a conchoidal fracture crossing part of its surface. A most pleasing Topaz from Klein Spitzkopje in Namibia.
