‘Cute’ is not normally applied to mineral descriptions, but in this case it is probably apt.  Two off-matrix, interpenetrant, part-crystals of Galena beautifully demonstrate the cuboctahedral habit, with more emphasis on the cube than the octahedron.  The crystals remain fresh and bright greyish silver with a bright metallic lustre.  The ‘cute’ element is introduced by the addition of bright metallic tiny Sphalerite crystals occasionally dotted over the surfaces of the Galena; the largest of which at first appear as markers put on the crystals to indicate their axes.  A beautiful and interesting Galena with Sphalerite from Stříbro in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic.
