Bournonite with Quartz, Siderite and Calcite

ID: CC19666
Blueish-steel-grey crystals of the lead-copper-antimony sulphosalt Bournonite are scattered amongst a busy matrix of small Quartz and Calcite crystals overlaying larger, sharp rhombohedral crystals of honey-tan to golden-honey Siderite.  From the Příbram mining district in the Czech Republic, the Bournonite forms individual orthorhombic crystals up to 9 x 5 x 3 mm, most well terminated.  None of these can be termed ‘cog-wheel’, although parallel striations on some crystals hint at this.  Clusters of flattened translucent, milky Calcite crystals form the occasional saucer to 1 cm diameter, whereas the glassy Quartz crystals do not exceed 1 or 2 mm.
