A magnificent group of jet-black Cassiterite crystals up to around 3 cm long and forming stellate repeated twinned clusters on a microcrystalline, pink-tinged milky Quartz matrix.  This lovely specimen is from Krásno close to Horní Slavkov in the Czech Republic, displays semi-matt, slightly frosted tetragonal faces whose re-entrant faces between the twinned pairs have a brilliant bright metallic lustre.  Although none are complete, each crystal’s geometry demonstrates that a full cyclic twin would be a six-fold repeat, or sixling.  A delightful and showy Cassiterite from Krásno.
