For everyone unfamiliar with the more detailed geography of Germany, the Wölsendorf Fluorite Mining District in the Upper Palatinate of Bavaria lies about 17 km east of Nuremberg. This compact small miniature of Fluorite with Baryte has crystallised over an angular epimorph of Quartz after Calcite which produces a complex structure when examined. The Fluorite forms intensely dark purple cubic crystals averaging 1 to 2 mm on edge, so dark they appear as black. These are scattered over micro colourless terminated Quartz crystals which compose the epimorph, with the occasional blade of biscuit tan Baryte. Some of the Quartz crystals are coloured pumpkin orange.
