The octahedral crystals are perfectly equant, with face edges up to 1.9 cm. The triangular faces are relatively smooth with a matt to waxy lustre but do show shallow-stepped equilateral patterns of growth development. A splendid intensely dark purple Fluorite from Kara-Oba, Betpakdala Desert, Karagandy Province, Kazakhstan, a greisen-hosted tungsten-molybdenum deposit. The specimen is mounted vertically on a clear acrylic base.
