Calcite and Siderite on Quartz

ID: CC19829
A beautifully crystallised dome of lustrous black Sphalerite, caramel-tan blades of Siderite, a broad druse of milky-white Calcite crystals and many small, colourless Calcite crystals scattered over the Sphalerite.  From the Příbram mining district in the Czech Republic, both the milky Calcite and Sphalerite form excellent crystals, each up to about 4 mm wide, whereas the Siderite forms curved, razor-edged blades to 1 cm wide.  The lustrous, snowy-white Calcite preferentially coats the specimen, indicating its “way-up” direction in-situ.  This results in a broad swath of white Calcite crystals across one side of the specimen, which also coat any similar orientated Siderite crystals.
