Turquoise var. Rashleighite
ID: CC19832
Ferrian (iron-rich) Turquoise is given the varietal name Rashleighite, named for the famous Cornish collector Philip Rashleigh (1729 – 1811). This is an excellent example of this variety and aesthetic too. Spherical globular crystal aggregates of Turquoise line what is probably a micro-crystalised Chalcosiderite-lined vug in a Quartz veinstone. The Turquoise spherules differ slightly in colour on either side of the vug; bluish-turquoise at one side and peppermint-green-turquoise at the other. The presence of Chalcosiderite with Rashleigh is common as Rashleighite is an intermediate member in the Chalcosiderite-Turquoise series. A splendid specimen from Wheal Phoenix by the village of Minions, close to Linkinhorne in Cornwall.
