A superb thumbnail of crystallised Proustite from the Schlema-Hartenstein District of Erzgebirgskreis in Saxony, Germany. Proustite, a silver-arsenic sulphosalt, is often tarnished to opaque black, but this specimen, which has been carefully curated, retains its natural bright blood-red colour. The Proustite is attached to an almost unnoticeable granular Quartz matrix and forms divergent crystals, some forming a semi-reticulated pattern. When back-lit, the specimen is brilliant scarlet. A superb Proustite from Saxony. This specimen is mounted on a clear and colourless acrylic cube.
