A mainly water-clear, transparent and colourless Quartz crystal with a tabular habit and subtle yet distinct feathered Faden line through its vertical axis. Hexagonal in cross section, the crystal has developed highly flattened, measuring 6.5 x 3.5 x 1.0 cm. The term Faden comes from the German for ‘thread” and the name Faden Quartz is the anglicized from of Fadenquartz. The back of the termination has natural in-situ contact damage, which is not visible when displayed. An excellent off-matrix Faden Quartz from the North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in Pakistan.
