Calumet and Hecla is one of the most famous and iconic copper mines on the Keweenaw Peninsula in Upper Michigan, USA.  This miniature is an amazing specimen, packing a punch far above its weight.  It comprises a compact array of branching Native Copper crystals underlain by a small matrix of glassy Calcite.  The Native Copper crystals display many crystal habits; measure up to a magnificent 2.5 cm and have the most splendid patina of copper-red through to bronze and golden-copper.  A wonderful specimen for even the most dedicated collector of Michigan Copper Country minerals!  The specimen comes with two previous labels, one an “A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum”, a museum whose speciality is in Keweenaw copper and its associated mineralogy.
