A rather different specimen of Witherite with Fluorite from Minerva No. 1 mine at Cave-in-Rock, within the Illinois-Kentucky Fluorspar District of Illinois, USA.  A part cubic Fluorite crystal of translucent honey-lemon is embedded within a beautifully crystallized cluster of Witherite, the rare barium carbonate species.  The Witherite forms characteristic curved and tapering hexagonal crystals to around 2.4 cm tall and forms a shell-like epimorph structure of snow-white micro crystals.  A terrific combination of Fluorite and Witherite from Minerva No. 1 mine, Cave-in-Rock.
