A beautiful specimen of orange Wulfenite and yellow Mimetite from La Morita mine in Mexico. The Wulfenite forms as intermeshed blades to 1.5 cm with a preferential surface alteration from one direction. This produces highly lustrous bright apricot-orange faces from one side and light butterscotch-toffee faces with a silky lustre from the other. The Mimetite forms zingy acidic lemon-yellow spheres of between 2- and 7-mm diameter, scattered over and around the Wulfenite blades. The superb specimens of Wulfenite and Mimetite being produced from La Morita mine are relatively new, having only first been encountered in the mine in late 2018. The mine is worked for lead, zinc, silver and baryte, but has become known amongst collectors for its high-quality Wulfenite with Mimetite. A gorgeous and eye-catching specimen from this new Mexican locality.
