Rich apricot-orange tabular blades of Wulfenite stand amongst a rich druse of lemon-yellow Mimetite spheres covering a matrix of platy snowy-white Feldspar, from the La Morita mine in Chihuahua, Mexico. The superb specimens of Wulfenite and Mimetite being produced from La Morita mine are relatively new, having only first been encountered in the mine in late 2018. The mine is worked for lead, zinc, silver and baryte, but has become known amongst collectors for its high-quality Wulfenite with Mimetite. The Wulfenite crystals are up to 1.6 cm on edge and form highly lustrous, glassy translucent tabular crystals with bevelled edges. These sit beautifully amongst a carpet of bright Mimetite spheres of typically 3 to 5 mm diameter with a matt lustre due to the myriad of micro-terminations covering their surfaces. The Wulfenite crystals are tilted towards the specimen’s lower front edge and, as such, their lower faces are not so readily seen. These faces have a preferential surface alteration to light creamy-butterscotch-toffee. This is a stunning large miniature of Wulfenite with Mimetite from La Morita mine in Mexico.
