A spectacular example of a classic “inverted snow cone” Fluorite from the famous Elmwood mine at Carthage, Tennessee, USA.  Micro-cubic stepped mauve Fluorite crystals form a scalenohedral-like 4 cm long cone that emerges from the remaining three faces of a transparent half cube measuring 2.0 x 1.7 x 1.3 cm along these edges.  This very rare habit of Fluorite is a partially dissolved, much larger, Fluorite crystal which leaves behind one perfect corner and an etched cone which extended towards the centre.  The entire Fluorite structure has great clarity and internally appear mostly colourless, but has a wonderful lavender, near-surface colouration.  A splendid Elmwood classic.
