A spectacular example of a classic “inverted snow cone” Fluorite from the famous Elmwood mine at Carthage in Tennessee.  Micro-cubic stepped mauve Fluorite crystals form a scalenohedral-like 4 cm long cone which emerges from the remaining three faces of a transparent half cube measuring 2.0 x 1.7 x 1.3 cm.  This very rare habit of Fluorite is a partially dissolved, much larger, Fluorite crystal which leaves behind one perfect corner and an etched cone which extended towards the centre.  The entire Fluorite structure has great clarity and internally appears mostly colourless, yet with a wonderful lavender, near-surface colour.  A splendid Elmwood classic.
