A heavy, long metallic black blade of Ferberite sprinkled with occasional etched, octahedral crystals of pale lavender Fluorite, from the Kara-Oba tungsten deposit in the Betpakdala Desert, Karagandy Province, Kazakhstan. Ferberite is the iron-rich end member of the Ferberite- Hübnerite series, what used to be named “Wolframite”. The Ferberite forms a single vertically striated crystal with a metallic silky lustre and shows partial terminations across its apex. A most pleasing specimen.
