ID: CC2014
A Muscovite and Quartz matrix richly coated with sparkling, pale smoky sky blue to deep teal interlocking Fluorapatite crystals from where else but Panasqueira mine at Covilhã, Castelo Branco, Portugal. The two dominant Fluorapatite crystals measure 1.7 cm and 1.5 cm, exhibiting colour zonation with deeper blue centres. Covering the majority of the display face is an uninterrupted layer of smaller Fluorapatite crystals averaging around 0.8 cm. This is a notable example of Panasqueira Fluorapatite from The Philadelphia Academy collection and was likely mined in the 1960s or 70s. It is a beautiful and superb specimen.
