A thin plate of iron-stained Quartz has a rich coverage of very nicely crystallised Strengite, a relatively rare iron phosphate.  From Hagendorf in the Upper Palatinate district of Bavaria in Germany, this area is dominated by the Hagendorf South Pegmatite and when pegmatites are rich in phosphate, Strengite can occur.  The Strengite forms tabular orthorhombic crystals to 5 mm on edge; are an attractive violet-plumb pinkish-purple; translucent to occassionally gemmy and have a greasy dull lustre.  An splendid Strengite from the famous locality of Hagendorf.
