Galena var. Feather Galena

ID: CC20174
A fascinating and highly unusual specimen of Galena occurring in feathered - herring-bone dendritic arrays, similar to that often seen in crystallised native silver.  Individual dendrites are up to 2 cm long with smaller dendritic crystals branching at near to 90 degrees along the entire length.  The Galena is a matt, silvery-grey and forms a criss-crossing network throughout the glassy quartzite matrix.  This rare specimen is from Bad Bleiberg in Carinthia, Austria, where it was named “Feather Galena”.
