Fluorite with Fluorapatite

ID: CC20207
A quite gorgeous miniature featuring superb octahedral Fluorite crystals and gemmy, teal-blue Fluorapatite prisms from the tungsten-molybdenum greisen at Kara-Oba in the Betpakdala Desert, Kazakhstan.  The Fluorite forms spectacular, opaque, intensely deep blackberry-purple octahedral crystals to 1.9 cm on edge, with scaly stepped faces built from various geometries of the cube-octahedral habit.  These faces have a waxy to steely lustre.  Certain faces aligned towards one direction are preferentially coated with earthy-matt, mauve-lavender micro-crystalline Fluorite producing a most aesthetic effect.  To one side is a 4.0 x 3.5 x 3.5 triangular coverage of superb prismatic hexagonal Fluorapatite crystals with flat pinacoids of gemmy aquamarine-teal blue.  An exquisite miniature from Kara-Oba!
