Native Lead

ID: CC20254
Native Lead is a very rare species due to lead’s propensity to readily form sulphide and oxide compounds.  Perhaps the most famous locality is that of Långban in the Bergslagen mining district of Värmland County, Sweden, where this specimen is from.  The 2.2 x 2.1 cm face of this specimen is composed of skeletal crystals of dull silver-light-grey Native Lead, forming a sub-parallel array of ribs, 1 to 1.5 cm wide.  A choice crystallised thumbnail of this very rare native element.
