A first class Olivenite from the famed Kamariza mines, around and beneath the town of Kamariza, now named Agios Konstantinos. This classic mining district lies a few kilometres inland from the coastal port of Lavrion. The gossan matrix, composed of iron oxides with an earthy, reddish-brown limonitic coating, forms a large shallow vug some 8 x 4 cm which is completely lined with small, perfectly developed emerald to grass-green Olivenite crystals. The stubby acicular crystals, around 1 mm long, form dense rosettes covering the entire surface of the vug. A superb specimen from Kamariza.
