Fluorapatite with Muscovite and Orthoclase

ID: CC20300
Fluorapatite is mainly associated in Cornwall with the china clay mining district and certain well-known pegmatites.  This gemmy teal-blue complex crystal is a superb example of the species and displays beautifully on crystallised off-white Orthoclase coated with micro-crystals of Gilbertite hydro-mica, a variety of Muscovite.  The accompanying Ward’s Natural Science label is provenanced “Cornwall, England” but, from my experience, its colour and complex habit suggests the historic Colcerrow quarry, close to the village of Luxulyan as a strong contender
