For the collector of fine Tourmalines and classic localities, this is a terrific opportunity to acquire an amazing, large thumbnail crystal of Rubellite from the Jonas mine, close to the town of Conselheiro Pena in Minas Gerais, Brazil.  The Jonas mine is particularly famous for its superb red Elbaites, variety Rubellite, the most significant pocket of which was discovered in 1978, only a year after the mine began.  This magnificent 3.1 cm tall translucent Elbaite crystal is a stunning cranberry-red and where light is reflected off internal planes, the crystal emits wonderful flashes of electric cherry and raspberry-red.  Small pale lilac platy crystals of Lepidolite mica are attached to one side.  This is a beautiful Tourmaline and a magnificent example of Rubellite.
