This lovely miniature example of Blister Copper, the botryoidal variety of Chalcopyrite, is known to be from Cornwall but no further locality information is recorded.  The specimen has the appearance of a floater with no visible area of attachment to its original matrix.  Spherules of botryoidal Chalcopyrite cover the entire specimen on all faces and range from about 2 mm up to 1.3 cm in diameter.  Very little of the brassy Chalcopyrite is visible because the surface is enveloped in a coating of likely Bornite, giving an inky blue patina with occasion patches of iridescence.    Although one immediately associates Blister Copper with Cook’s Kitchen mine, it does occur in many other mines throughout Cornwall.  Possible suggestions for this specimen associated with Bornite are Carn Brea mine and East Wheal Damsel, but this is only educated speculation, so should remain labelled simply as Cornwall which we know to be correct.
